It’s been an exciting start to the year for us behind the scenes here at MP!
We are thrilled to announce that we have joined the Pilates International Training Centre as their Brisbane training location and delivery partners for 2019.
PITC has been delivering professional Pilates instructor training in Australia for longer than any other organisation, and has the respect of the pilates industry across the country and internationally. It’s founder and CEO Sally Anderson was one of the first teachers to bring Pilates to Australia, and she has worked tirelessly to raise the standards of training and accreditation across the industry for more than 30 years. PITC courses are highly regarded amongst employers and students alike, known for their professionalism, versatility, and high quality training structure.
Now collaborating with Pilates Training Institute in Perth to deliver and manage the courses (headed by another extremely experienced girl-boss-duo, Frances Cahill and Suzanne Newby) PITC have expanded again in 2019 to further their reach and support to students nationwide.
“As our training family grows nationally, our students have access to the best and brightest minds and bodies in the business. It is very exciting times!”. Read more from Fran, Suzanne and Sally in their collaboration announcement earlier this year.
We are thrilled to be joining the team and to be able to take this opportunity to step into a faculty role of educating and guiding students. We’ve always enjoyed supporting and working with students who have come through our studios in the past and we are looking forward to taking on a bigger role in the industry.
As the Brisbane base for PITC, our studios will provide a welcoming environment for students to complete their face-to-face components of their studies during weekend coursework and practicums, as well as work towards their self mastery within our classes. Anita, Catherine and Leanne have joined the teaching team to deliver the courses, guide the students and be the friendly faces to support them on their journey.
PITC offer 4 levels of teacher training:
- Pilates Mat
- Pilates Mat and Reformer
- Diploma of Pilates Instruction (10527NAT)
- Advanced Diploma of Pilates Instruction (10538NAT).
The Diploma and Advanced Diploma are accredited as part of the Australian VET framework. Read more about all of these training courses here.
We are extremely proud and excited to be joining the PITC family and invite you to share in our excitement!
How will this affect the day-to-day running of our studios?
Very little! And only positively. We may share information with you occasionally about our students successes or invite you to join a student-taught class, but your involvement in this side of things is completely up to you! The training courses will be managed and communicated under the banner of MPTC (Movement Principle Training Centre) so you can opt-in here to be on the mailing list if would like to keep up to date. MPTC is also the Brisbane base for TRX instructor training (click here to find out more!) and a base for other movement training opportunities.
Who can train to be a Pilates teacher?
Anyone! We mean that. Pilates is a wonderful modality and a rewarding career. If working with people and learning more about movement is something you’ve considered, come and chat with us! We’ll give you the run down of what it’s all about. Each of our instructors have a different background, and brings something extra to their teaching, so versatility is valued and there are many paths that can lead to becoming a pilates professional.
Will students be teaching in the studios?
At times, yes. Just as we have had done in the past, occasionally students will work under our supervision to practice their skills on real clients. Part of their training is building their skills from teaching individual exercises or movements, through to being totally autonomous in the studio and managing multiple clients as the final stage in achieving competency as a Pilates teacher. We totally understand that not everyone feels comfortable in that situation and we will always ask your permission. Under the PITC style of course delivery, the students complete a great deal of their teaching in student-based clinics and practicum so only small amounts of hours will be done within our regular studio operation hours. Observation hours will be done in our studio, but this won’t interfere with your session and just remember, they are observing the teachers not the clients!
We are determined to contribute qualified and well-trained teachers to our industry, teachers with a passion for movement and helping people experience the best of their health through movement. With a focus on the value of mentorship and hands-on training, we are looking forward to being a part of the ongoing development of the pilates profession and the nurturing of passionate and knowledgable teachers.
