Both studios are closed for Easter Friday 19th – Monday 22nd April.

We are also closed for the public holidays Anzac Day Thursday 25th April and Labour Day Monday 6th May.

Need some help fitting in your classes?

Email us and we’ll sort you out! We are happy to help you by giving you a few extra days to use up your package or membership if it falls over Easter. And if you are going away, we can give you an extension on your package expiry date* or put your membership on hold. Just be sure to let us know in advance!

*not available on CBD introductory pass or 15/30 day group pass.

I’m sure you are looking forward to the end of the year and some much needed R&R, but before we all start to wind down (preferably with a drink in hand and some great company) we have some admin and housekeeping to take care of. Head off on your break with a clear mind that your pilates plan for the New Year is already sorted!

We take great pride in supporting you in your health and wellness journey, and checking in with you at this time of the year is a chance for us to make sure you’re on track with your goals and that we are doing the best we can to help you.

Here’s all the information you need to secure your bookings for the end of this year and into the next, and generally prepare for a fabulous 2019 in our wonderful studio spaces.

Over the next week expect your instructor to be asking you a few questions!
We’ll be asking:
- when you are away for Christmas
- your requests for regular class times for next year and
- anything else you need sorted for the end of the year.

Maybe you need to purchase a Gift Voucher, organise a pilates equipment or wellness gift for a loved one or book in a Private lesson to organise a holiday program for your travels.

We also have a new pricelist for 2019 with some changes to regular packs/passes that reflect CPI increases (we’ve been putting this off for two years) and we’ve done away with some of our outdated packages to keep things simple.

We’ve also developed some new features to make things easier for you!

Firstly, we’re introducing Auto-Renew. No matter which pack or pass you buy, you can set up an auto-renew on your chosen credit or debit card (securely encrypted on our MINBDODY site), so the next payment will automatically go through on the last of your pack . Hooray!! No more having to remember and keep on top of your 10 pack. You can choose this option online, or email us and we’ll call you to set it up over the phone.

Secondly, we’ve added some Monthly Memberships. This is a new system for us, and one we’ve had many request for over the years. For anyone coming twice or more per week, you can now sign up for a monthly payment which gives you the best possible rates while distributing the cost each month. You only have the month to use a set number of classes, so it really is best suited to those who already have or are keen to implement a regular twice a week (or more) routine.

The benefits of this system is that it’ll keep you on track so you get the most out of your sessions, and you’ll get rewarded with priority bookings, discounts on events and special workshops and retail items. Read more about the details here.

There are a limited number of each type available so don’t wait! You can purchase these online and start these now if you wish, or email us and we’ll set you up over the phone.

So as we head towards 2019 we look forward to making it easier for you to keep track of your account as well as your body!

And don’t forget you can still purchase all of the current 2018 rates up until December 31st.

Studio Closures & Schedules

This year both studios will trade with their full schedules up until close of business on December 22nd.  We’ll be back on Wednesday January 2nd, with as much of a full schedule as possible, though we may consolidate some timeslots were we have large numbers of people away. We’ll be in touch if that’s you.

Information for pre-paid Package holders

All 5,10 and 20 packs purchased between November 23rd & December 23rd will automatically have an extra months validity (eg. 5 packs will be valid for 3 months instead of 2, 10 & 20 packs for 4 months instead of 3) to account for the holiday period and the days that we will be closed. If you have a current pack that was purchased prior to this, and need an extension due to a planned holiday, please request an extension by sending us an email. As per our Policy and Procedures document, we don’t extend just because you got too busy so please keep this in mind, but we are more than happy to extend for your Christmas break as long as you let us know in advance.

Information for 15 Class/30-day Pass holders

Any 30 day/15 class passes will be extended to a 45 day expiry when purchased on or after November 23rd. We are only closed for 9 days but we understand many of you have family commitments and additional time away from the studio, so an extra 15 days should help you get the most out of your pass.
Please be aware that these passes are unable to be paused for holiday periods. Remember this pass brings you the best price per class to reward you for your commitment to coming frequently. If you are going away for an extended break, you have two options: squeeze more classes in before you go or when you return, or buy a 5 or 10 pack during December which can be extended by request.

Information for New Membership Holders

Keen to grab a membership before Christmas? Great work! Please check our rules regarding pausing and cancelling memberships here, but we’ll put an automatic 10 pause on the membership for you to account for the time we are closed. You can additionally request a longer pause if you need, but be aware you can only do this a maximum of 2 times during the year. Read all the Ts & Cs here.

2019 Regular Bookings

As mentioned, now and through next week our teachers will be securing all regularly booked clients into the diary for 2019. If you wish to keep your regular booking your teacher will be confirming these in classes this week, or you can click here to fill out an online form.
Again please let your instructor know asap that you would love to keep your regular routine and the return date you have scheduled for 2019 and they will lock that in before the diary becomes available to online bookings. Regular bookings are available for private, trio and group classes provided you have a Membership or an Auto-Renew set up on your account. From 2019 individual pack purchases will allow you to forward-book the number of classes on the pack only. So if you want your timeslot for the whole of the year then Auto-Renew or Membership is for you.

2019 Online Bookings

If you prefer to book online and manage your own schedule, the online system for 2019 will be open from December 10th.

Friend or family member wanting to start?

We love welcoming new family members and friends to the studio! A friendly face can make a huge difference for someone who is new to exercise, or trying something out of their comfort zone. Despite this being a busy time of the year, we find a lot of new clients like to join before Christmas and it’s a great way to get a head start on next year’s goals. So tell your friends not to wait – we’ll make room for them! Pilates also makes a great gift for someone special, and allows them to experience the benefits that you already enjoy and love. Talk to your instructor or email Catherine and Anita – we’ll work out the best way to get them started and can even do up a Gift Voucher pack or create a personalised PDF for you.

A Staff Goodbye
We are sad to say goodbye to one of our very loved teachers at Christmas, Michele Dorn. Michele began her time with us as a Pilates student many years ago, and has since developed into a very skilled and much loved instructor. Her attention to detail and kind and caring manner will also make her a wonderful physiotherapist, and as she moves into her final years of study in this new career, it is time for her to take a break from Pilates teaching to make sure she has the flexibility to complete her practical requirements and give her super brain some space for study and development. We wish to thank her from the bottom of our hearts for all of her years of dedicated service and passion in our studio and all of the clients she has guided in that time. She will be missed but don’t worry, we’ve reminded her the door is always open for her to come back once the study is done!

As of June 30 2018 we will no longer be running our 40min group classes (springboard, TRX, combo, yoga, mat) at Paddington

We are sad to see the end to what has been a lovely social and supportive atmosphere in our Paddington group classes over the years but we are confident this tough decision is the right one. All good things must come to an end! But we want to extend our apologies to you specifically as a regular attendee of these classes.

Over the last few years the pilates industry has evolved, and the variety of classes and pilates options in Brisbane has grown immensely. We love this! The more pilates out there, the better! However, it’s time for our business to evolve too and to focus on what we specialise in – personalised and specialised pilates tuition using the full range of equipment, and taught by highly qualified teachers who make pilates their career and their life.

When we first introduced Springboards in our Milton studio in 2012, they were the only ones in Brisbane. We were the only studio offering an affordable, group pilates equipment class that made the traditional springwork and exercises accessible to a general fitness clientele. We were super excited to be able to accommodate them when we moved into our Paddington space in 2013 and some new group classes such as the TRX classes, and again we were the only ones in the area offering a group classes of these kinds.

Since then, the growth of the fitness-based pilates studios and the popularity of group pilates classes has meant we cannot compete while also maintaining our commitment to small group class numbers. We’ve always believed that in order to facilitate a consistent pilates practice for you though the group classes we would need to offer more availability across a wider timetable. We just don’t have the resources to develop this to its full potential. We’ve tried various combinations, timetables, and formats to make it work over the years, but at this juncture it’s no longer sustainable.

We still love and fully support the idea of affordable, small group Pilates-based classes taught by Pilates professionals. And that’s why we are thrilled with how well they work in our CBD space, a space made to accommodate this style of class and which was opened with the vision for a broader group timetable. (Plus the air-conditioning and the fact that you’re not out on the deck at 6am in Winter we’re sure has something to do with it.)

We know our explanations may not offer much to soften the blow, but we wanted you to understand our reasonings. Believe us, as small business owners who are personally involved and in contact with almost every client in our studio and part of a small, specialised and dedicated teaching team, we take decisions like this very seriously and have thought long and hard about this difficult choice.

So, what’s next?

From 30th June these will be your options for continuing your pilates journey with us, and what is going to happen to any class packs you’ve pre-paid that are valid past this date.

1. Transfer to Trio classes or Private lessons. You can convert your existing 5/10/20 packs to trio classes at a 2:1 ratio, and you’ll also receive a 20% discount on your next purchase. We will help you find a regular booking that suits your schedule with extra times becoming available from July.

2. Continue attending our group classes in our city studio. Your current packs are valid there and we’ll add an extra month onto the expiry to give you more time to try a few different styles and times.

3. Take a refund. We understand. These changes aren’t going to suit everyone. We are happy to offer a refund of any remaining classes unused (and not expired) at June 30th.

4. Hold onto your credit and use towards any of our upcoming Workshops and Events. We are busy behind the scenes organising some new experiences for you at Paddington, so keep an eye on our social media and newsletters. Credit will be valid until December 31st 2018.

Whatever you choose, we do hope you’ll stay part of our community and we hope you’ll continue attending the existing group classes as they are up until June 30th.

We are so thankful for your support of our special studios, that have been nurtured into beautiful spaces and a wonderful community by you. We thank you in advance for your understanding and support into this next development.

A few notes on how things will work during June:

– all packs are valid at Paddington until June 30 – all purchases made that extend into July will be sold on the assumption that they are to be used at the City studio ONLY from July 1st onwards – any casual attendance at Paddington will be discounted to $18 for the duration of the month – in the last week of June, all existing pack holders will be contacted to see how they would like to use any remaining credit.

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us as we are very happy to talk through the options with you.

We look forward to seeing you all in classes over June as we send our Springy’s and T-Rex’s off with a bang!

It’s a season of change in our studios…..

…..wait, what?

Now, there is no reason to be alarmed and we do appreciate that change isn’t always easy, but you know what it is? Exciting! And to say that were are excited about the changes that will be rolled out for July may be an understatement.

We’ve always had big ideas for our little studios, focused on creating spaces, classes and routines that foster happy clients and happy staff. We want you all to get the best out of your classes, the best from the teachers that support you and the best in-studio experience we can provide. And so we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to shake things up a bit! Good shake, we promise.

What’s at the core of it? (see what we did there?)

We’ll keep it simple. There’s three main changes:

1. Some teacher changes across the timetable. Most classes will stay exactly the same and some will get a shuffle up, to add more balance for the teachers and some better pairings for teacher and client availability. Some of these changes are also to accommodate extended teachers leave later in the year. If you have a regular trio or private booking that will be affected, we’ll be in touch. Not sure how you’ll go with a new teacher? Read our blog post here about the pros and cons of changing teachers!

2. New schedule of group classes in the city. As many of you know we do this from time to time, after carefully reviewing the trends, chatting to our teachers and checking in with what’s popular. To give you as much of what you want when you want it, and to keep things fresh and fun. This time we’ve added two new reformer class styles – Foundation Reformer and Advanced Reformer. Click here to see the timetable and click class names to read descriptions. All classes are now open for bookings from from July 2nd.

And lastly … and this is a biggie for us…….

3. The end to our group class format at our Paddington studio on June 30. It’s a sad but overdue goodbye to our Springboard classes, TRX and Combo classes in our Paddington space which has always struggled to offer the broad timetable and variety of styles that the city space is made for. For those of you who are directly affected we will be personally emailing you with a number of options going forward, or you can read more about it here.

What else do you need to know?

We are looking forward to bringing you some new and exciting offerings at both locations over the next few months.
Stay tuned as we announce dates and details for:
- workshops
- retreats
- specialised workshop series
- one-off classes and events

All existing timetables at both studios will run til Saturday 30th June. Follow this link for more info on class credits and pack conversions beyond this date.

New schedules commence Monday July 2nd.

All schedules are now available for bookings online.

If you have any questions regarding any of this information, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Look forward for seeing you all in class!

We regularly welcome dancers into our studio for pilates conditioning to help strengthen their dance technique or to assist in recovering from injury. Pilates helps build body awareness by allowing dancers to connect with their body in a way that is different from dance. Pilates focuses on the mind-body connection and the subtle ways we can develop stronger control over joints and muscles. We use visualisation, breath, assisted stretching, bands and springs to gently load muscles, and props and equipment to guide alignment and help dancers feel correct placement. Pilates can help decrease the risk of injury by improving biomechanics especially through the foot, ankle and knee, and can give better power and coordination in dance movements through increased core strength and control.

Our teachers are highly trained and many are also experts in dance, having previously danced or taught professionally. As the Pilates Instructor to the Queensland Ballet, Catherine Neal is involved at the professional level as well as regularly training younger dancers both in our studio and off site at dance studios. We also have a number of ex-professional dancers and qualified ballet teachers on our staff, and all of our teachers regularly work with young dancers, dance teachers and adult dancers in the studio.

Monthly Workshops

Join our Saturday afternoon workshops for a chance to learn some basic conditioning for home practice, and to experience using the equipment for assistance and challenge. Suitable for dancers aged 10-16, these monthly workshop runs on specific dates. $25/session. Click here for dates and booking.

Dancers aged 14+ can join into our regular studio sessions. Starting with an initial consultation, dancers can book private or trio sessions at times that suit, and the program will be tailored to each individuals needs. Our teachers can also liaise with your teacher or treating health professional (physiotherapist, doctor) if you are having problems or managing an injury. See times and prices here
